Emanuel Celler U.S. Courthouse Modernization

Heintges performed an existing conditions survey of stone cladding and brick back-up wall. Removal of five stone panels and petrographic analysis of the stone originally specified to be Indiana Limestone was executed. Heintges identified it as an inferior stone, Carthage Marble, substituted, presumably for cost savings. Previous attempts at stabilization with face anchors were not successful. After development of several alternate schemes, demolition of existing parapet and replacement with precast concrete panels was selected. The joint pattern, tint, and surface finish of the precast concrete panels was selected to closely match the original.
