The renovation at 20 Hudson Yards repositioned the top three floors of The Shops and Restaurants at Hudson Yards into modern office space.

In order to accommodate the conversion, KPF designed a new glass enclosure for the 10th Avenue facade. Working with existing anchor points, the new curtain wall incorporates monumental 10 ft wide by 20 ft high units providing increased daylight and views. The wide unit module reduces the overall quantity of aluminum framing compared with a conventional unit width, resulting in improved thermal performance. The facade design skillfully organizes existing retail louver locations into discrete vertical bands and horizontal glass screens.  The project included reglazing of adjacent curtain wall units, new glass guardrails, terrace doors and roofing and waterproofing tie-ins to existing construction at the perimeter.

Heintges provided building envelope consulting and roofing & aterproofing consulting services during design and construction phases as well as NYC Special Inspections.
