Designed by TenBerke Architects, the Brown University Integrated Life Sciences Building will provide state-of-the-art laboratory space for researchers in biology, medicine, brain science, bioengineering, public health and other disciplines to work together on health-related issues. Located in the Providence Jewelry District, it will offer close collaboration opportunities with scientists and physicians at Brown's Warren Alpert Medical School, the School of Public Health, the School of Engineering and the University's affiliated hospital partners. The building will house wet and dry research laboratories, lab support, office and collaboration space, state-of-the-art vivarium, and ground floor retail.

The building envelope design features fully custom unitized curtain wall with formed metal panel cladding and low-e coated insulating glass units. Curtain wall thermal performance targets accommodate special lab spaces with elevated levels of humidification, which required detailed analysis of the curtain wall's condensation resistance and coordinated CFD modeling of interior conditions. Iterative thermal analysis was a key driver in developing the facade design details and specifications in support of an early bid package.
