The Breazzano Family Center for Business Education expands the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business and contributes to the revival of the Collegetown campus. The 6-story building provides classrooms, administrative office, and high-definition broadcasting studios for the university and features a 4-story atrium with open circulation and a corner café facilitating interactions within the building and with the surrounding neighborhood. 

The facade design is optimized for solar heat gain – the most transparent north elevation implements clear glazing at the feature stair in the atrium transitioning through the addition of vertical shading elements along the east, to a primarily opaque south facade articulated by horizontal brise soleil. A unitized curtain wall design allowed for variation of facade materials – large units composed of metal panels and singular framed windows are used on the primarily opaque facades, giving way to all 

glass expressions in standard sizes with spandrel glass and vertical sunshades. The articulated all glass atrium facade incorporates double height units hung from, and partially encapsulating, vertical steel strong backs. The lively vertical patterning combined with plane shifts and horizontal features accentuate the transition of materials and transparency across the building facade.
