Located on Rodeo Drive, Los Angeles' premier retail destination, Peter Marino Architect envisioned the the Dior facade as a multi-faceted, crystalline, expression.
To accomplish this vision, Heintges worked with the architects to devise a typology of glass prisms, triangular in plan, which when deployed create a dynamic, distinct, visual effect. The condition of the existing building structure was not completely condusive to supporting the prisms individually, so a bespoke welded steel truss was designed into which the unts could be set. The truss assembly also accomodated shadowbox construction with reflective elements and lighting to add to the overall experience of the facade from the street.
Heintges provided building envelope consulting during all phases of design and construction.
