Designed by SHoP Architects, the U.S. Embassy New Office Annex in Bangkok will support over 1,000 staff and provide impressive open spaces for public-facing services to the general public and a full range of diplomatic events and programming.  The new 14-floor tower will sit on the Embassy’s lush 11-acre property in Bangkok’s Pathum Wan district and will replace a smaller, obsolete office building. The building, which seemingly floats above the water of the klongs that help with site water 

management, is comprised of a lower “village” volume housing shared community spaces and an upper “tower” volume. 

The building’s facade consists of weather-tight window wall systems with exterior sunscreens to mitigate solar heat gain and is responsive to local and traditional architectural forms. Heintges’ scope has involved providing preliminary engineering, details, and specifications to ensure the envelope will meet all performance requirements, including thermal, structural, and security. 

Heintges is providing building envelope and curtain wall consulting services during ongoing Design and Construction phases.
